Tipster OnLeaks (aka Steve Hemmerstoffer) has recently shared unofficial first glimpses of the remaining members of Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S24 family, not long after leaking the design of the series’ vanilla model last week. Much like from before, included together with the detailed look at both devices are some of their alleged specifications such as the featured chipsets, memory configurations, and display sizes.
Speaking of the latter, it appears that the series’ Ultra variant may see a significant change in this department, provided that OnLeaks’ depiction is accurate. From the images provided, the top-of-the-line model is shown to longer feature a curved display – a technology that was first mainstreamed by Samsung itself, which later became a staple for most flagship smartphones. Instead, its alleged 6.8-inch LTPO AMOLED panel is now flat, though its glass does feature some slight curves towards its edges.
Apart from the noticeable change in its display, everything else on the phone looks more or less identical to its predecessor. This is especially so with the button placements, S-Pen integration and the arrangement of its rear camera setup, though it does seem that the next generation Ultra variant may be slightly thinner than the current generation iteration. And like the leaked vanilla Galaxy S24 from before, a UWB antenna can also be seen on the lower half of its curved frame on the right-hand side.
Specifications-wise, OnLeaks claims that the Ultra’s display offers thinner bezels, QHD+ resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, and 2,200-nits peak brightness. Meanwhile, under its hood is believed to be a Snapdragon 8 Gen3, up to 16GB RAM, up to 2TB storage, and a 5,000mAh battery with 45W fast charging support via USB-C. Interestingly, it also looks like the top-end Galaxy S24 may be the only model that may not feature Samsung’s first-party Exynos chipset.
As for imaging, it is said that the phone’s rear camera setup could feature a new ISOCELL HP25X 200MP primary sensor, a 50MP periscope lens with 5x optical zoom and a 10MP telephoto with 3x optical zoom, while found in front is a 12MP selfie shooter. Other than that, the leak suggests that Ultra will also come with a titanium frame, IP68 water/dust resistance, and an in-display fingerprint scanner.
Next up is the Galaxy S24 Plus which, probably to no one’s surprise, shares the same design as the vanilla variant – but with a much larger display, of course. According to the leak, this particular variant offers a 6.7-inch flat Dynamic 2X AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate, while found on the inside is either a Snapdragon 8 Gen3 chipset or Samsung’s own Exynos 2100. Unfortunately, that’s all that was provided in terms of its specifications.
Since it will still be a long while until the South Korean tech giant launches its new flagship smartphones, there’s a chance that we may see even more leaks pop up along the way. So far, Samsung has yet to confirm when it will launch the new Galaxy S24 series, though a much recent rumour is suggesting that the event will take place by mid-January next year.
