Earlier in the month, Mark Gurman of Bloomberg corroborated a claim that Apple may have an iPad Air 6 in the works. At the time, his prediction was that the fruit company will unveil the new tablet in a low-key manner next month, meaning no launch event, and just a press release. More recently, a new report claims that the iPad mini 7 may be joining it as well.
DigiTimes reports that there will be “orders for a new small-size iPad in the fourth quarter”, extrapolating details obtained via its supplier sources. The iPad mini 7 being in production is probably not surprising, as industry leakster ShrimpApplePro has already made the claim before. That being said, at the time, the claim was made in relation to the event that saw the announcement of the iPhone 15 line, which is already behind us.
The report doesn’t go into further detail for the supposed iPad mini 7, as it’s mostly about global shipping figures of tablets in general. So beyond the incremental upgrades that you’d expect from a refresh, there’s nothing much that one can say is safe to expect from the tablet, regardless of when it sees the light of day. It would be nice if Apple surprises fans by giving it an M series chip the way the iPhone maker did for the iPad Air 5, though.
All that being said though, this report is not necessarily at odds with the previous rumour that only noted the iPad Air 6 as making an appearance next month. But whether or not either of them will play out as claimed remains to be seen.
