Last week, Xiaomi officially launched the Redmi Note 13 series smartphones alongside its latest pair of earbuds, the Buds 5. Now, we’ve spotted the new earbuds in the SIRIM database, with its local certification indicating that they will eventually make their way to the Malaysian market.
The Buds 5 were listed on SIRIM on 15 September 2023 with the model number M2316E1. For now, Xiaomi has not officially announced whether or not the earphones will be available in Malaysia, but with this listing, it’s only a matter of when. They are sold with a starting price of CNY199 (~RM127) in white, purple, and black colour options as well as a special edition in collaboration with AAPE.
As for specs, the earbuds feature 12.4mm drivers with titanium-coated drivers. For protection, they are rated at IP54 for dust and water resistance. Powering them are 150mAh batteries in the buds and a 500mAh battery in the case, translating to a battery life of up to 10 hours on a single charge with ANC disabled and up to a total of 40 hours of usage.
Speaking of ANC, it can switch between three different noise cancellation strengths depending on your environment with the capability to reduce up to 46dB of noise. This is paired with a transparency mode and noise cancellation during calls.
