Microsoft has announced its latest slate of Surface devices, totalling four products with two of them being pushed towards organisations. For consumers, this new lineup consists of the much-awaited Surface Laptop Studio 2 and Laptop Go 3.
The successor to last year’s convertible, the Surface Laptop Studio 2 comes with a similar design but with significant specs bumps, offering more power. It sports a 14.4-inch 3:2 120Hz touch display on a hinge with a resolution of 2400×1600 and Corning Gorilla Glass 5, along with support for HDR and Dolby Vision IQ with a peak brightness of 650 nits. Its quad speakers are compatible with Dolby Atmos.
Underneath the chassis, you will find a 13th Gen Intel Core i7 H class processor with an Intel Gen3 Movidius 3700VS VPU AI Accelerator. The graphics are where it gets interesting as it can be configured with either Iris Xe Graphics for the base model or, if you have the deep pockets for it, up to an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4050 GPU. All this is paired with up to 64GB of RAM and up to 2TB of storage.
For connectivity, it has two USB-C ports, a single USB-A port, a headphone jack, and a microSD card reader. Powering it is a 58WHr battery that promises up to a whopping 19 hours of usage.
On the more practical side for casual users, the company introduced the Laptop Go 3, which features a 12.4-inch 3:2 touch display with a resolution of 1536×1024 and Corning Gorilla Glass 3. It has Dolby Audio Premium speakers with dual far-field Studio Mics and a 720p camera.
Powering this laptop is a 12th Gen Intel Core i5-1235U processor with Intel Iris Xe Graphics, with either 8GB or 16GB of RAM with 256GB of SSD storage, which is removable. It gets a USB-C port, a USB-A port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. It runs on a 41 WHr battery with a claimed battery life of up to 15 hours.
The Surface Laptop Studio 2 starts from US$1999.99 (~RM9,370) while the Laptop Go 3 is priced from US$799.99 (~RM3,748). The latter is already listed on Microsoft’s Malaysian website as coming soon while the Laptop Studio 2 has already received SIRIM certification, so we can expect both of these devices to launch here in the near future.
