Logitech today has launched not one, but two new microphones under its gaming-centric Logitech G brand. Consisting of the Yeti GX and the smaller Yeti Orb, these are the first microphones that are released by the company after dropping the Blue Microphone branding earlier this year. Despite the circumstance, the audio production company is still responsible for the design and engineering of the existing and future Logitech G microphones.
Speaking of which, fans of the Blue Yeti microphone will immediately recognise the iconic capsule design of the Logitech G Yeti GX. But unlike its predecessor, the device sports a much cleaner and minimalist look for both the microphone unit and stand, which is in-line with Logitech G’s other products. Complementing the look is a RGB lighting system at the bottom, the “G” logo on the side, as well as on its scroll wheel.
Specs-wise, the microphone offers a dynamic, supercardioid pickup pattern with 24bit/96KHz audio quality, 50Hz-18KHz frequency response, 95dB dynamic range, and 78dB signal to noise ratio. Logitech adds that the Yeti GX comes with Smart Audio Lock that automatically adjusts gain to prevent clipping and reduces ambient background noise through a single click of the scroll wheel. Additionally, it also relies on USB-C for both power and connection to a compatible device such as desktop computers or laptops.
Next up is the Logitech G Yeti Orb, which is kind of a successor to Blue’s smaller Snowball microphones. Like the GX model, it too features a minimalist design with USB-C connectivity, and comes with an included desktop stand. Don’t expect a lightshow with the mic though, as its onboard RGB lighting system is only limited to Logitech’s “G” logo.
The Yeti Orb is a condenser microphone that features polar cardioid pickup pattern with 24bit/48KHz audio quality, 70Hz-20KHz frequency response, 95dB dynamic range, and 72dB signal to noise ratio. Even though it lacks the GX’s fancy Smart Audio Lock feature, Logitech promises that the smaller Yeti model is still capable of optimising your voice for crystal clear delivery, as well as cancelling out any external noises during streams or recordings.
Both of the new Logitech G Yeti microphones are compatible with the brand’s G HUB app, which lets you customise both their lighting and sound effects, among other things. In addition, the company also revealed that full support for all LIGHTSYNC-enabled devices with Windows Dynamic Lighting will be introduced in the future to enable for a completely unified, immersive play experience.
The Logitech G Yeti GX and Yet Orb are available in Malaysia now via the brand’s official stores on Lazada and Shopee. The former is priced at RM659, while the latter is retailing for RM269.
