Sony today has confirmed the local pricing for its upcoming cameras, the A7C II and A7CR, which were globally announced last month. Both shooters are available for pre-order starting today until 31 October 2023, and are expected to arrive in Malaysia sometime in November.
To recap, the Sony A7C II or Alpha 7C II is a compact sized full-frame mirrorless camera that’s equipped with a 33MP back-illuminated Exmor R CMOS full-frame sensor and a Bionz XR image processing engine. The camera is touted to be capable of shooting up to 10 frames per second (fps) via its mechanical or electronic shutter, and record up to 4K video with 7K oversampling.
It also comes with 759-point autofocus with 94% image area coverage, ISO range of 100 – 51200, AI-powered subject recognition, real-time tracking and auto framing, as well as up to seven stops compensation via its 5-axis in-body image stabilisation (IBIS). For video-centric features, the new Sony A7C II can record 4K/60p footage in Super35 format, FHD at up to 120p, offers 10-bit 4:2:2 colour sampling, as well as supports HLG, S-Log3, S-Cinetone, and LUTs.
Also onboard is a 2.36M dot OLED electronic viewfinder (EVF) with 0.7x magnification, a 3.0-type 1.03M dot vari-angle LCD touchscreen, and a single UHS-II SD card slot. Besides that, the camera features dual-band WiFi and Bluetooth 4.2 support, USB-C power delivery, and an included NP-FZ100 removable battery.
Then we have the Sony A7CR, which is pretty much a A7R V but in the same compact-sized body as the A7C II. It also sports identical specifications and features as the latter model, with the exception of the sensor and features specific to it. Like the A7R V mentioned earlier, this particular model is equipped with the same 61MP back-illuminated Exmor R full-frame sensor and Bionz XR image processor.
The camera offers 693-point autofocus with 79% area coverage, and up to eight fps of continuous shooting via mechanical shutter and up to seven fps via electronic. It is also capable of recording videos up to 4K/60p with 6.2K oversampling in Super35 and FHD at 120p.
For the Malaysian market, the Sony A7C II is priced at RM10,499 for body only, or at RM11,999 if you choose to bundle it with a SEL2860 kit lens. On the other hand, the A7CR is only offered as body only at RM14,999. The company adds that those who pre-order both devices before 31 October 2023 are entitled to receive a SF-M64 memory card and an extra NP-FZ100 battery for free, while a lens cleaning kit is exclusively included for early adopters of the latter model.
