The last time NVIDIA released a Super Series graphics card, it started and ended with the GeForce RTX 20 Series that launched in 2019. And while there never was a Super Series for the RTX 30 Series, images of what appears to be an unreleased RTX 3090 Super have made their way online.
Like its “non-Super” variants, the RTX 3090 Super wears the same dual-axis flowthrough Founders Edition cooler shroud introduced with the launch of the Ampere-based series of cards. The most obvious, if not only pointer that really clues you in about the card’s pedigree is the name of the card actually etched into the shroud. That, and its all-black motif really adds an air of sexiness to it.

As this is a card that never made it to the production line, there are unfortunately no internal specifications, let alone any performance metrics for the RTX 3090 Super. In our review of the original RTX 3090, it proved to be an over-engineered beast at the time, and rightly so: this was when NVIDIA began touting its prowess at running games at 8K resolution, albeit at lower in-game graphics presets.
On that note, there is no word from NVIDIA if it plans on resurrecting its Super Series and from the looks of it, it seems highly unlikely that it plans on doing so. To date, it has simply reverted back to using its “Ti” naming convention to designate the more powerful variants of a lineup.
