When it comes to the Fan Edition (FE) of electronics by Samsung, it’s more than likely that the first things that come to mind are more affordable versions of the company’s flagship phones. For instance, current rumours point to a Samsung Galaxy S23 FE being released in the fourth quarter of the year. But it looks like a Samsung Galaxy Buds FE may be joining in as well, as its official user manual has been spotted floating around the internet.
Dutch news site Galaxy Club first spotted the document via the company’s German site, though the manual itself is in English. As you’d expect, such documents don’t usually paint a complete picture of what the product is, but there’s enough to gleam some details off of them. To start, the Samsung Galaxy Buds FE will come in a squarish case that’s reminiscent of the brand’s Buds2 Pro from last year.
As for the buds themselves, the argument can be made that they look more like the Buds Plus, what with the touch control bit looking more defined. These make use of the usual tap commands – single touch inputs plays or pauses media, while double and triple touches skips to the next or previous track, respectively.
Features-wise, the Samsung Galaxy Buds FE mentions ANC and ambient modes, with Bixby support, as well as an equaliser that you can access via the Galaxy Wearable app. Charging is done via good old USB-C, though with wireless charging not mentioned, it’s likely that it’s the feature that was put to the chopping block.
Also noted in the manual is that the Samsung Galaxy Buds FE comes with two wing tip sizes, in addition to the eartips themselves. Part of the manual states that “if the touch-sensitive sensor does not make contact with your ear, the earbud may not work”, so having them fit properly is as important as ever.
Naturally, a user manual like this assumes that the product is already launched, and as such, there’s no indication of when that will actually happen for the Samsung Galaxy Buds FE. But with the current rumoured release window of Q4 2023 for the Galaxy S23 FE, the two may very well share an unveiling date.
