The GoPro Hero12 Black got its international launch not too long ago, and now the company has announced the local market’s equivalent. And with that, we also get the local prices for both the action cam itself, as well as the Max Lens Mod 2.0.
As mentioned in the prior report, the GoPro Hero12 Black now comes with Bluetooth audio support. This allows for remote control via voice commands, as well as use things like TWS buds to record live commentary.
Beyond Bluetooth audio support, the GoPro Hero12 Black also features shooting modes ranging from 5.3K at 60fps, 4K at 120fps, or 2.7K at 240fps, as well as stills at 27MP. Making this happen is the 1/1.9-inch 8:7 sensor, which allows for more space to work when you need to crop for all sorts of aspect ratios, be they horizontal or vertical. The HyperSmooth 6 handles image stabilisation, while the Horizon Lock feature makes it so that the orientation of your shot doesn’t change, even if the action cam itself goes for a vertical spin. There is also HDR support, as well, but it looks like your shooting modes will be quite limited if you have this turned on.
If you intend to use multiple units of the GoPro Hero12 Black, it now comes with timecode sync for easier multi-camera editing. On that note, GP-Log with Look Up Tables (LUTs) allow for more control with post-production editing and color grading.
The company also says that the GoPro Hero12 Black has twice the runtime of its predecessor thanks to a redesigned power management system, while using the same battery as its predecessor. This leads to 70 minutes of shooting time at 5.3K60, 58 minutes at 4K120, and 90 minutes at 5.3K30. You can also get 155 minutes for 1080p at 30fps, if that’s what you want.
For those who want to use the GoPro Hero12 Black in a more conventional way, it now comes with a 1/4-20 tripod screw mount. This is paired with the usual mounting fingers for an expended range of accessories that the action cam is compatible with.
The GoPro Hero12 Black will be priced locally at RM1,999, but it will only be available starting 9PM of 13 September. This will be when you can get it via online retailers, like the official store on Shopee . But if you want to find them in shelves you’ll likely have to find them the next day. There’s also the option to get it as part of the Creator Edition bundle for RM2,999, which comes with an additional Media Mod, Light Mod, and Volta Battery Grip.
Then there’s the Max Lens Mod 2.0, which increases the field of view captured by the action cam by 177 degrees. This translates to 36% wider landscape videos, and 48% taller portrait clips. This is priced at RM519 and available on the same day as the action cam itself.
