Xiaomi founder and CEO Lei Jun has announced on X (formerly Twitter) that the much rumoured Xiaomi 13T series will finally see a debut in Europe later this month. The event will take place in Berlin, Germany on 26 September 2023, and will be streamed live via the brand’s official global website at 2pm GMT+2 (8pm local time).
As expected, the CEO’s announcement did not reveal anything else apart from confirming that the upcoming series will also be co-engineered with its partner Leica, much like the Xiaomi 13 trio from earlier this year. This bit of detail is interesting, as it was alleged by leakster Sudhanshu this week that the company may launch two versions of the series in different regions: one featuring the German camera maker’s branding, while the other doesn’t.

In fact, an alleged Xiaomi 13T unboxing video uploaded by Guatemalan YouTuber Eufracio Lopez last month corroborated the tipster’s claim, where it is revealed that the units in Lopez’s possession lacked Leica’s branding on their rear camera island. Sudhanshu notes that Europe will be one of the markets that will receive the Leica version, but did not elaborate further regarding this. For now, it is unclear why Xiaomi has decided to release two different versions of its upcoming smartphone series.
Apart from confirming the device’s global launch, Lei Jun’s post also contains an easter egg that actually reveals a significant part of the series’ design. If you pay attention to the hashtag used, you’ll notice that the robot-like emoji placed after “#Xiaomi13TSeries” shares a strong resemblance to the phone’s camera array as per Sudhanshu’s leak and Lopez’ video. Posting “#Xiaomi13T” and “#Xiaomi13TPro” will also have the same emoji appear at the end of each hashtag, by the way.
In terms of specifications, tipster Yogesh Brar claims that the standard model will feature a 6.67-inch OLED display with 1.5K resolution, 144Hz refresh rate, a 20MP selfie camera and an in-display fingerprint scanner. Besides that, it is also said to have stereo speakers, a MediaTek Dimensity 8200 Ultra chipset, a 5,000mAh battery with 67W fast charging, as well as a triple camera setup comprising a 50MP primary, 13MP ultra-wide and a 50MP telephoto.
