HONOR has released two new phones from its X series into the Malaysian market. The X6a and X5 Plus are entry-level devices that, on paper at least, offer amazing specs for these price segments.
X6a
The X6a was introduced just last month, sporting a 6.56-inch 720p display with a 90Hz refresh rate. It is driven by a MediaTek Helio G36 chipset with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of expandable storage.
On the back, it features a 50MP main camera, a macro lens, and a depth sensor, while the display holds 5MP selfie snapper. Powering it is a 5,200mAh battery with support for 22.5W charging.
X5 Plus
Even more affordable is the X5 Plus, which is equipped with the same 6.56-inch 720p display at 90Hz. Another similarity with the X6a is that it also runs on a MediaTek Helio G36 SoC, paired with only 4GB of RAM and a paltry 64GB of storage that can be expanded via a microSD card.
It uses a 50MP primary rear camera alongside a depth sensor and the front houses a 5MP selfie shooter. Furthermore, it is powered by a 5,200mAh battery with 10W charging. Despite being under RM500, the phone still comes with a USB-C charging sport, albeit with USB 2.0 speeds.
Both phones support dual-SIM with 4G, Wi-Fi 5, and Bluetooth 5.1, although NFC support seems to be missing. The budget devices even come with the standard 3.5mm headphone jack.
For pricing, the X5 Plus retails for RM449 while the X6a can be purchased for RM599. They are available nationwide on the brand’s online store.
