Jabra today has officially announced the Elite 8 Active for Malaysia. Introduced globally as part of a duo last week, this particular set is aimed for sports as well as workout oriented users and is also touted by the company to be the world’s toughest TWS earbuds.
The company’s bold claim is not without its merits, as the Jabra Elite 8 Active boasts MIL-STD-810H rating in toughness as well as an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance. According to the company, the buds have undergone numerous durability tests, including enduring two hours in 40-degree Celsius temperature with 93% humidity, a 15-minute splash test in salt water, and more. They’re also claimed to be drop-resistant at up to 1 metre, though a Jabra representative informed us that the pair could actually survive falling from taller heights.
Toughness aside, the Elite 8 Active comes equipped with 6mm drivers as well as a total of six built-in microphones that enable for clear hands-free calls with wind noise protection. It also features Adaptive Hybrid ANC that automatically filters background noise, while the onboard HearThrough transparency function allows for a wind-free listening experience while running and so on.
Unlike the Elite 10, the buds do not feature Dolby Atmos or Dolby Head Tracking. Instead, their audio delivery is powered by Dolby Audio, which also allows for spatial audio support. Besides that, the Jabra Elite 8 Active supports Bluetooth 5.3 with Multipoint connection, as well as Google Assistant, Fast Pair, Swift Pair, and Spotify Tap.
In terms of battery performance, Jabra says the new buds are capable of lasting up to eight hours from a single charge, while its included case provides an extra 24 hours. Oh, and you’ll be glad to know that the Elite 8 Active’s charging case is also dust and water resistant, but at a lower rating of IP54.
The Jabra Elite 8 Active will retail at RM1,049 and is offered in Caramel, Navy and Dark Grey colour options. The new buds are slated to ship out by 18 September 2023, while in-store availability at selected authorised retailers nationwide is expected towards the end of the month. Pre-orders will be available via the brand’s official online stores on Shopee, Lazada and Sunway eMall starting 8 September until 17 September. Jabra adds that those who pre-order the Elite 8 Active are also entitled to receive a complimentary Celebrity Fitness VIP access and a RM50 discount voucher while stocks last.
