It appears that DJI is set to launch the next iteration of its Mini drone line-up in the near future. Thanks to leaks shared by reliable tipsters Quadro_News and OsitaLV, shared online are images featuring a yet-to-be-announced DJI Mini 4 Pro along with its packaging. The latter of which also provided several of the device’s key specifications.
Based on the pictures provided, the next generation Mini is shown sporting a new design where in front are four sensors instead of two. Two of which are facing forward while the other two are looking towards the back. And even though the bottom is not visible, it is safe to assume that there are also two downwards facing sensors like the drone’s predecessor. According to the packaging, all of these make up for the DJI Mini 4 Pro’s new Omnidirectional Active Obstacle Sensing ability, which should enable it to manoeuvre across, well, obstacles more effectively.
Also shown in front is a camera with a 24mm f/1.7 lens mounted on a 3-axis gimbal. While this setup may look similar to last year’s DJI Mini 3 Pro, the packaging revealed that this is not entirely the case. Based on the information provided, the newer drone is claimed to be capable of recording videos at up to 4K resolution with a faster frame rate count of 100fps via its onboard 48MP sensor, which greatly exceeds its predecessor’s 60fps limit. Additionally, it is said to feature HDR support, True Vertical Shooting, as well as several intelligent functions such as FocusTrack, Waypoint Flight, and Hyperlapse.
Besides that, the supposedly upcoming DJI Mini 4 Pro is also revealed to weigh less than 249g, offers FHD video transmission range of up to 20km, and is capable of staying in the air for 34 minutes – presumably with the standard battery pack that’s also included with its predecessor. On that note, it is not known whether the newer drone can support the company’s Intelligent Flight Battery Plus which comes with a larger capacity, though it is very likely. Last but not least, the front of the packaging also indicates that included together with the device is a DJI RC-N1 remote controller.
So far, DJI has been very quiet about releasing a new drone, though there is a chance that we might see an announcement to be made sometime soon. According to leakster OsitaLV, the new Mini 4 Pro could see a launch on 15 September 2023. If true, expect the company to reveal further details such as the drone’s pricing and availability by then.
