Evidence of the existence of Intel’s upcoming Raptor Lake Refresh Core i9-14900K has finally broken cover. Details of the alleged CPU’s specifications and details were first posted on the hardware benchmark, CPU-Z, and picked up by Twitter, now X user, @wnxod.
According to the CPU-Z database, the alleged 14900K is still a Socket LGA1700 processor, has a TDP of 125W, but more importantly, it will have a boost clock of 6GHz, presumably on a single core and through the magic of Intel’s Thermal Velocity Boost (TVB) technology. While that is impressive, it should be noted that it isn’t the first CPU to achieve such speeds. That honour belongs to the previous generation’s king-of-the-hill, the Core i9-13900KS.
As for the core count, the 14900K still uses the same hybrid core architecture, with a division of eight P-cores, and double that number for the E-Cores, bringing the total number of threads on the CPU to 24. As far as performance goes, the processor scored 18117.5 points on the CPU-Z multi-core test and 978 points on single-core. To provide some perspective, that is approximately 10% faster than the 13900K and nearly 20% faster than the Alder Lake Core i9-12900K.

Intel is expected to properly launch its 14th Gen Meteor Lake later this month at its upcoming Innovation event, as well as its Raptor Lake Refresh lineup in the following month. We actually managed to get a glimpse of Meteor Lake during our tour of the chipmaker’s facility in Penang and Kedah but sadly, we’re still not at liberty to divulge any additional details about the lineup. You’ll have to wait until the end of the month.
