After numerous leaks and teasers, OPPO has finally launched its next generation Find N3 Flip compact foldable smartphone in China. Interestingly, it’s actually barely a year since the launch of its predecessor, so it’s surprising to see the company debut the sequel so soon. Thankfully, the model is a significant upgrade over the last; featuring newer hardware and even more features.
To start things off, the newly launched OPPO Find N3 Flip almost shares a resemblance to its predecessor especially in terms of dimensions. The most obvious difference is the addition of a circular camera island beside the external screen, and a new three-stage alert slider on the left-hand side of the cover (or right, depending on your preferred orientation for its folded mode). In regards to the latter, the slider functions more or less the same as those featured on OnePlus phones, where the first stage sets the phone to go into Do Not Disturb Mode, whereas the third enables Silent Mode.
Also unchanged are the sizes of its external and internal displays. Like the Find N2 Flip, the former sports the same 3.26-inch AMOLED vertical panel with 720 x 382 pixels resolution, up to 60Hz refresh rate, 120Hz touch sampling rate, and Corning 7th generation Gorilla Glass protection. The latter, on the other hand, features a 6.8-inch LTPO AMOLED foldable display with 2520 x 1080 pixels resolution, up to 120Hz adaptive refresh rate, up to 240Hz touch sampling rate, and ultra-thin glass (UTG) protection. OPPO notes that the external screen now features more functionality, allowing users to access different apps and widgets for navigation, social media and so on.
Under the hood, the new Find N3 Flip gets an upgraded MediaTek flagship chipset, namely the Dimensity 9200. This is paired together with 12GB LPDDR5X RAM, and up to 512GB of internal storage. Besides that, it also comes with Android 13 via ColorOS 13.2, supports 5G, WiFi 7 and Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity, and is powered by a 4300mAh battery with 44W fast charging via USB-C.
For imaging, housed within the cover’s circular island is a Hasselblad enhanced camera setup consisting of a 50MP primary with OIS, an updated 48MP ultra-wide with 114-degree field-of-view, and an all-new 32MP telephoto with 2x optical zoom and up to 20x digital zoom. Meanwhile, found within the punch-hole cutout on the internal display is a 32MP selfie camera.
The OPPO Find N3 Flip is slated to ship in China on 8 September 2023, and is available in three colour options: Black, Gold, and Rose. The 12GB RAM + 256GB storage configuration is priced at CNY6,799 (~RM4,330), while the 12GB + 512GB will retail at CNY7,599 (~RM4,840). The company is promising that a global launch will be happening “soon”, though no exact date has been confirmed just yet.
