Huawei has recently announced the LTE version of its 2023 MatePad 11.5 tablet for the Malaysian market. As you may have already figured out, this variant also enables for cellular connectivity up to 4G on top of its existing dual-band WiFi capability. Specifications-wise, since the only new addition to the device is the LTE support, the rest of its hardware is identical to the WiFi-only version.
For those unfamiliar, both variants of the Huawei MatePad 11.5 sport a large 11.5-inch TFT LCD (IPS) display which offers 2200 x 1440 pixels resolution, 229 PPI, adaptive refresh rate of up to 120Hz, 16.7 million colours and 100% sRGB colour gamut. Also onboard are two microphones, four speakers, a SIM card slot (for the LTE version only), and a USB-C port for charging and data transfer. Regardless of model, the tablet measures at 260.88mm (h) x 176.82mm (w) x 6.85mm (d) and weighs approximately 499g.
Handling things in the background is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen1 chipset, along with an Adreno 644 GPU, 6GB of RAM, and 128GB of storage. Keep note that there’s no microSD card slot, so you have to make do with what the tablet has to offer. Besides that, both models come with HarmonyOS 3.1, WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2 support, as well as ambient light, gravity and hall sensors, though only the LTE model has a compass feature.
Meanwhile, powering the duo is a 7700mAh battery that’s touted to last up to 10.5 hours of continuous video playback on a full charge. Wired USB-C fast charging is rated at 22.5W, while you can also charge a 2nd generation Huawei M-Pencil (sold separately) by magnetically attaching it to the tablet.
Last but not least is the imaging capabilities on the MatePad 11.5. Found on the back of the device is a 13MP primary camera, while in front is an 8MP selfie shooter with subject tracking capability for video calls.
The LTE variant of the Huawei MatePad 11.5 2023 is slated to be available in Malaysia starting 31 August 2023 onwards for RM1,699 via the brand’s official website, experience stores, as well as Urban Republic chains nationwide. The WiFi-only model, on the other hand, is already available locally at RM1,499.
