ASUS has announced the 2023 iteration of its ExpertBook B5 laptop series for the Malaysian market. As with its predecessors, the line-up consists of two laptops: the B5602CV model which features a traditional clamshell design, and the B5602FB variant (aka the ExpertBook B5 OLEDE Flip) which sports a convertible form factor. With the exception of different hinge types, the duo are actually equipped with the same hardware specifications.
For starters, both ASUS ExpertBook B5 laptop models feature bodies crafted from pure aluminium and magnesium alloy, and are touted to weigh as little as 1.4kg. Additionally, they come with MIL-STD 810H US military standard certification in terms of durability, which the included keyboard is engineered to resist spills and splashes.
Equipped on either variant is a 16-inch OLED display which offers WQUXGA (3840 × 2400 pixels) resolution, 16:10 aspect ratio, cinema-grade 100% DCI-P3 colour gamut. Also onboard are Dolby Atmos-tuned speakers, built-in microphone array, an integrated fingerprint sensor, FHD webcam with shield, integrated Kensington Nano lock slot, and an optional TPM 2.0 security chip to thwart potential attacks.
Under the hood, both the ASUS ExpertBook B5 OLED and its Flip variant are equipped with up to a 13th Gen Intel Core i7 processor with Intel vPro platform, and up to an Intel Arc A350M discrete graphics. Memory-wise, both laptops come default with 16GB DDR5-4800 RAM and 512GB storage via SSD, which can be further expanded up to 40GB RAM via a single DDR5 SO-DIMM slot and up to 2TB storage via dual M.2 2280 PCIe 4.0×4 SSD slots.
For I/O, the ExpertBook B5 series comes with two Thunderbolt 4 Type-C ports, a USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A, a USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A, a HDMI, an Ethernet port, and a 3.5mm audio combo jack. Besides that, both models support dual-band Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3, while their included batteries are claimed to offer up to 14 hours of usage on a single charge.
The new ASUS ExpertBook B5 OLED and ExpertBook B5 Flip OLED are available now in Malaysia, with the former starting at RM8,099 and the latter from RM7,699. Both laptops are covered by ASUS’ 3-year Global Warranty with Local Onsite Coverage, 3-year battery warranty, and 1-year Perfect Warranty.
