Astro has announced its new Kids Friendly Mode, promising to provide a safer entertainment experience for children and giving parents peace of mind. With the new feature, parents can set up kids-friendly profiles for each of their children to limit them only to age-appropriate content.
Kids Friendly Mode is available on Astro Ultra, Ulti Box, Astro Go, as well as the Multiroom Smart TV app. Access to content from these profiles will be strictly limited to content that is suitable for children, including exclusive On Demand content, linear channels, programme recordings, and search results.
Moreover, when using a Kids profile, going to a non-kids channel will result in a redirect to the nearest kids channel. An account can have a maximum of four Kids profiles and children can’t exit the profile without a four-digit PIN set by parents. Inputting the wrong PIN three times will result in a timeout lasting 10 to 15 minutes.
To celebrate Merdeka Day, the company is also providing its customers with two free channels, namely #DemiNegaraku (Ch 100) and Ultraman (Ch 400). #DemiNegaraku will be available from 20 August to 17 September while Ultraman will be available from 20 August to 30 September. Both channels are available via TV, Astro GO, and On Demand while Ultraman is also made available to sooka TV subscribers and NJOI’s Kids Pack subscribers.
