Microsoft is set to hold a “special event” in New York next month, which is around the same time that the company usually launches new Surface hardware. “Mark your calendars for Thursday, September 21, 2023, for a special Microsoft event,” the invite sent to media reportedly read.
hWile nothing has been officially confirmed, the tech giant has been rumoured to be working on a Surface Go 4, Surface Laptop Studio 2, and a Surface Laptop Go 3 for later this fall, so this event would somewhat fall within that timeline. It’s also possible that it will reveal more details about an upcoming update for Windows 11 that will include native support for RAR and 7-Zip files, a new settings homepage, a redesigned volume mixer, and early access to Windows Copilot.
The successor to last year’s Laptop Studio is said to be updated with the latest Intel processors, more powerful graphics cards, as well as a better selection of ports. Leaked benchmark scores have already revealed that the configurations offered will include an Intel 13th Gen Core i7-13700H and Core i7-13800H, along with between 16GB to 64GB of RAM and up to an NVIDIA RTX 3050 GPU.
Moreover, a Surface Go 4 with an ARM processor has apparently been pushed in favour of one running on an Intel N200 instead. As for the Surface Laptop Go 3, it’s said that it will be refreshed with 12th Gen Intel CPUs and a higher-spec base configuration.
