High-rise internet service provider TIME today has introduced its new Gig Speed Home plan, which is also now available for pre-registration. It is the first in Malaysia to feature Huawei’s FTTR (Fibre-to-the-room) technology, which is touted to offer consistent internet connectivity in every room of your home through both wireless and cable approaches.
For those who are unfamiliar, this Huawei-developed solution involves the placement of several Wi-Fi enabled optical network terminals (ONT) in every room of an apartment unit. All of these are connected by discretely installed micro optical fibre cables that originate from a central optical network component, which in turn is connected to the primary router via LAN.
Through this arrangement, FTTR allows for consistent internet coverage throughout your home, ensuring uninterrupted high-speed connectivity regardless of which room you are in. In TIME’s case, its new Gig Speed Home promises to deliver seamless 1Gbps speed (hence its name) through 100% fibre and WiFi 6 technology.
For now, it is unclear what devices will be included in the package, though TIME’s teaser video hints that a Huawei FTTR F30 router is very likely to be one of the options offered. Unfortunately, the company has yet to announce the pricing, date of availability, and a list of supported high-rise residences in Malaysia for the new Gig Speed Home plan.
