Not too long ago, we saw reports claiming that a Lenovo Legion Go, the brand’s Steam Deck competitor, is in the works. Now, another one claims to have images of the thing itself, and it looks to be very different compared to a previous attempt by the company that, granted, never made it to the market.
These images come courtesy of Windows Report, which shows that the Lenovo Legion Go is quite a bit more than just an alternative to the Steam Deck, if it does make it to market this time. Rather than just being a single slab of a handheld PC, this one also allows its controller pieces to be detached, much like the Joy-Cons of the Nintendo Switch. The right side also comes with a trackpad, but not the left, making for quite the asymmetry.
Something else that the Lenovo Legion Go lifts from the Nintendo Switch to mix with the Steam Deck formula is the kickstand at the back. Which makes sense if you want to use it with the controllers detached. There’s also the massive vent above the kickstand. Also visible behind are the asymmetrical additional buttons on the detachable controllers, which will definitely take some getting used to. There is also a wheel on the right half of the controller, making the more important one of the two.
Another detail shared in the report is that the Lenovo Legion Go will have an 8-inch display. The report claims that there are two USB-C ports, though it’s tough to make out from the images alone. Also present are a headphone jack and s microSD card slot.
Beyond that, it corroborates the previous report which claimed that it will be armed with AMD’s Phoenix processors. Like the previous report, there’s no confirmation if this is something that will actually see the light of day in the end. So while the device itself looks like a pretty good improvement over existing products, it’s probably best to keep taking these with a pinch of salt.
