AMD Unveils Limited Edition Starfield Radeon RX 7900 XTX And Ryzen 7 7800X3D

AMD, in conjunction and anticipation of the imminent arrival of Bethesda’s Starfield, unveiled two limited edition Starfield-themed components. The products in question are a specially designed Radeon RX 7900 XTX and a Ryzen 7 7800X3D with a custom box.

As you can see from the official unveiling video embedded here, the AMD GPU and CPU come with a constellation-themed design that reflects the Starfield theme. While the packaging of the 7800X3D is all that the CPU gets – honestly, AMD and Bethesda could’ve done a CPU cover etched with said design but then again, it’s not like you’d be able to see it once you’ve covered it up with a cooler – while the 7900 XTX actually gets more detailed facelift with its cooler shroud.

Specifically, the Limited Edition Starfield 7900 XTX gets a white reference cooler shroud, complete with all the red, blue, and yellows accents in and around the card. Heck, even GPU segment of its backplate looks wicked, thanks to the red and gold bracket outline of where the card’s GPU core is located. On top of that, the usual three red fingers that were previously visible on the heatsink fins have also been replaced with the colours red, orange, yellow, and blue. Each taking up three fins each on the heatsink.

Beyond the Starfield-theme decoration for both the 7900 XTX and 7800X3D, it looks like the limited edition design is merely that: aesthetics. The performance, especially for AMD’s top-tier GPU, is likely to be the same as when we first reviewed it back in December last year, the card is based on the chipmaker’s 5nm RDNA3 architecuture, along with a 6nm multi-chiplet Design (MCD). It features 24GB GDDR6 instead of the more powerful GDDR6X that its rival, NVIDIA uses, along with a 96MB Infinity Cache, 96 Ray Accelerators, and 96 AI Accelerators.

As for the limited edition Starfield Ryzen 7 7800X3D, the CPU is still based on AMD’s Zen 4 architecture, which is also based on a 5nm process node and 6nm I/O die. More importantly, it is further adulterated with the CPU maker’s 3D V-Cache technology, giving it an L3 Cache size of 96MB. For context, that’s triple the L3 Cache of the Ryzen 7 7700X.

At the time of writing, there is no word from AMD Malaysia about local availability or pricing for the limited edition Starfield Radeon RX 7900 XTX or Ryzen 7 7800X3D.
