Honda Malaysia officially unveiled the 2023 facelift models of the City sedan range, including the e:HEV RS model. Though for the most part, cosmetically aside, it looks to mostly be the same car that is already available. Worth mentioning is that there was also a hatchback model that came in between.
So what is actually different between the new Honda City e:HEV RS compared to what came before? The company says that the New City, as it is being referred to, sports a new honeycomb front grille, a new front lower grille, a new rear diffuser and new side skirts. The RS emblem is also new, though you’ll have to take more than a passing glance to tell the difference. The new bumper design also makes the new RS model 9mm longer than the other variants of the car.
Beyond these, the performance figures of the new Honda City e:HEV RS is similar to the previous entrant, as mentioned earlier. We’re looking at a familiar 1.5l four-cylinder, 16-valve Atkinson Cycle i-VTEC hybrid engine, providing the same 109PS and 253Nm of power and torque figures, respectively. This gives the car a 1- 100km/h time of 9.9 seconds, and a top speed of 177 km/h.
Features beyond performance include the Honda SENSING suite of driver assistance tools, with the Low Speed Follow being one that’s exclusive to the hybrid e:HEV RS model of the Honda City. On the flip side, features that come standard for all variants include six airbags and the Walk Away Auto Lock system. Then there’s the Honda CONNECT infotainment system, which supports both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, the latter when it eventually launches locally anyway.
Finally, the Honda City e:HEV RS is priced at RM111,900 on-the-road without insurance. Alternatively, if you just want an internal combustion version of the RS, the option is now available for RM99,900. You can visit the official page for the model to find out more.
