LEGO has recently brought in new products from its Tecnics line-up to Malaysia, including a model of the Dakar Rally version of the Audi RS Q e-tron EV. What makes this particular kit special is that it comes with remote control functions, which lets you operate it via a smartphone app. And unlike most Technic models that are catered towards adults, the toy company touts that the set is suitable for kids aged 10 and above.
All in all, the Audi RS Q e-tron model looks pretty faithful to its real-life counterpart – in a LEGO kind of way. Being a more kid friendly set, its entire build lacks certain complexities that are often featured on most offerings by the Technic product line. For instance, more intricate details such as the headlights and the front grille are presented with stickers.
The set consists of a total of 914 pieces (including spares and electronic parts), while the completed model measures over 15cm high, 37cm long, and 19cm wide. LEGO adds that the kit also comes with new Technic parts that are created especially for the kit, including individual suspensions for each wheel, which is intended to mirror the real EV. Additionally, the Technic Audi RS Q e-tron replica comes with electric motors and an included battery, but the company did not say how long it could last on a single charge.
As mentioned earlier, you can actually take the completed model out for a spin via remote control. Rather than relying on a dedicated controller, users can link the toy to their smartphone via Bluetooth, and drive it around through the LEGO Technic CONTROL+ app. Keep in mind that controls and movement for the model is mostly for playing and testing, so don’t expect actual RC levels of performance since it is a kid-friendly product after all.
For the local market, the new LEGO Technic Audi RS Q e-tron kit is priced at RM799. Collectors and Audi fans alike can get it now via the toymaker’s official online store on Shopee and Lazada, as well authorised retailers nationwide such as Box Of Bricks, Brick Magic and so on.
