The Razer Kitsune was first revealed back in June, as the gaming peripheral brand’s entry into leverless arcade-style controllers. At the time, while there were clues to when it would be available, no pricing details were available. Now, in a silent update to the controller’s product page, we know what it will cost when it comes around sometime next month.
As a quick refresher, the Razer Kitsune is pretty different compared to the usual arcade sticks, and in more ways than just its leverless nature. It’s also a lot thinner – it is actually thinner than the brand’s own low-profile keyboard, the Deathstalker V2, with its height rated at 19.2mm. It does weigh slightly heavier, at 800g.
The thinness does imply that there won’t be much going for it in terms of options, but since it’s using the company’s optical switches, it likely won’t need it. If you need to, the aluminium top can be lifted from the main unit. And as you’d expect from a product by this brand, the Razer Kitsune does come with a Chroma RGB strip around the sides.
A closer look also reveals a touch pad that’s much like the one you’d find on a DualSense controller. Not surprising, as it is meant to be compatible with the PS5, as well as PC. There’s also a cable lock mechanism for the accompanying 3.1m USB-A to USB-C cable to ensure no controller disconnection during tourneys. Ditto the lock switch to turn off the buttons outside of the main 12.
As mentioned, the official store page for the Razer Kitsune was silently updated, which now shows a retail price of RM1,479. If you want any of the fancier Street Fighter 6 editions, you’ll have to pay RM1,649 instead. We don’t have any newer information on its release date beyond the September window we were told before.
