As previously promised, OPPO Malaysia today has announced that its latest entry-level smartphone, the OPPO A58, is now officially launched for the local market. However, despite debuting with two different variants in China, we’re only getting the 4G model and so far there’s no word on whether the 5G-supported model will also be making its way here.
To recap, the OPPO A58 4G sports a 6.72-inch LCD display with FHD+ (2400 x 1080 pixels) resolution, 60Hz refresh rate and 180Hz touch sampling rate. Also found on the phone is a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, stereo speakers and a 3.5mm headphone jack. In terms of design, it features a flat-edged surrounding frame and a curved rear plate with a silk-like texture that’s available in either Glowing Black or Dazzling Green colourways. OPPO adds that the device also has a water and dust resistance rating of IP54.
Under the hood, the new A58 entry-level smartphone features 4G-enabled MediaTek Helio G85, which is paired together with a Mali G52 MC2 GPU as well as a single memory configuration of 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. Meanwhile, powering the phone is a 5,000mAh battery, which is claimed to allow up to 32 hours of phone calls, 16 hours of video streaming, or 5 hours of continuous gaming on a full charge. It also comes with 33W SUPERVOOC fast charging via USB-C, enabling for a full charge in just 75 minutes.
For imaging, found on the back of the handset is a dual camera setup, which consists of an AI-enhanced 50MP primary shooter and a 2MP depth sensor for portrait shots. In front, housed within the punch-hole cutout on its display is an 8MP selfie camera. Besides that, the phone comes with Android 13 via ColorOS 13.1, and there’s also a microSD card slot for expanded storage.
The new OPPO A58 4G is now available for purchase in Malaysia at a recommended retail price of RM699. Those interested may purchase it via the brand’s official web store, authorised dealers nationwide, as well as its online stores on Shopee and Lazada.
