Photos featuring what are claimed to be clone MagSafe cases for the iPhone 15 Pro have been shared online by leakster @MajinBuOfficial on X. What’s interesting about them is the presence of a third button just above the volume rocker, seemingly replacing the mute switch that’s found on past and existing iPhone models.
The button in question is believed to be multipurpose and customisable, much like the Action Button that’s featured on the Apple Watch Ultra. In case you missed it, leaks prior to this have suggested that Apple will replace the traditional Mute Switch with this new button on all of its new smartphones, starting with this year’s iPhone 15 series. Needless to say, the cases shared by @MajinBuOfficial, which are shown to originate from different manufacturers, appear to be corroborating with the rumour.

It is initially believed that this major change would only apply to the high-end variants of the iPhone 15, namely the Pro and Pro Max. However, a different set of photos shared by the leakster show that the new Action Button is also present on the standard and Plus models, or rather their respective demo units. It is unlikely that this is a production error, but seeing that nothing is official as of yet, we won’t completely rule out that possibility.

It is also worth noting that the same iPhone 15 mock units from @MajinBuOfficial’s leak are shown to sport the line-up’s shift from Lightning to USB-C. As you may recall, Apple was pressured by the EU to ditch their proprietary connector in favour of the more universal standard in order to comply with the region’s new rulings. This was confirmed by company executive Greg Joswiak in an interview with Wall Street Journal, who also revealed that the change will be in effect starting with iPhone models released this year.

Apple is expected to launch its new iPhone 15 smartphone series next month, though it has yet to officially announce the exact date. However, according to reports by 9to5Mac and Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the event is likely to happen on either 12 or 13 September, with first sales available for select markets from 22 September onwards.
