CelcomDigi has introduced a new 5G Home WiFi plan for those who live in an area with 5G coverage. This is essentially a rework of Celcom’s existing Home Wireless 5G offering, but with more availability. It costs RM199 per month with a 24-month contract, but for a limited time, those who sign up now can get it for a monthly subscription of RM149.
The plan is bundled with a 4G/5G ZTE MC801A router with no SIM-only option. It is worth RM1,899, covered under warranty for 24 months, and supports Wi-Fi 6. The Home Wireless 5G package came with a policy where the router was locked to your address, meaning you couldn’t use it at other locations besides your home. With the 5G Home WiFi plan, this isn’t mentioned in its FAQ, but a Celcom bluecube staff confirmed to us that this policy is applicable for the new offering as well.
While the CelcomDigi plan is advertised as “unlimited” home internet, this isn’t the case as the company enforces a Fair Usage Policy (FUP) with a quota of 1,000GB per month. Once you’ve depleted your quota, the service will be throttled to just 512kbps. In this case, users have the option to purchase an add-on which starts from RM10 for a 50GB cap with a validity of 24 hours.
Aside from the RM149 monthly fee, there is also a RM480 upfront payment fee which is rebated as a RM20 credit on your bill every month for 24 months. For foreigners, they will have to fork up an additional RM500 for a deposit. To sign up for the plan, you can go to any Celcom bluecube outlet.
