Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil has announced a new Rahmah 5G package which is a postpaid plan that provides a hefty sum of data as well as an affordable device to go with it. There is also a rebate incentive for civil servants that covers existing telco plans.
Rahmah 5G costs RM60 per month for 60GB of data along with either a Samsung Galaxy A14 or an HONOR 90 Lite for only RM240. This package is open to all Malaysians but it’s unclear whether you have to purchase it as a bundle or you get the option to only subscribe to the data plan if you already have a 5G device.
Moreover, the first 100,000 subscribers of Rahmah 5G in the B40 category will be able to get the phone at half the bundle price at only RM120 with an extended two-year warranty, although this discount comes with a 24-month contract. The minister stated that this option will be offered starting Merdeka Day, 31 August.
As mentioned above, there is even a Postpaid Rahmah incentive for all civil servants, which provides a RM10 monthly rebate on all existing telco plans, saving users RM120 per year. This incentive will similarly be enforced on Merdeka Day. As of writing, the carriers involved with these offerings have not been revealed and none of the major telcos have listed the plan on their respective websites yet.
