If you’re unable to access Maybank’s online services, namely its Maybank2u website and MAE app, you’re not alone. Several users on social media have reported experiencing issues while trying to log onto either platform or even use their bank physical cards since around 2:50pm today.
Meanwhile, those who’ve successfully logged in to Maybank2u or the MAE app note that their bank balances are not reflected correctly, whereas any attempts at refreshing their accounts by revalidating their identity through biometrics or pin code will result in varying error messages. These prompts range from “Unable to connect to servers”, “Unable to retrieve customer information”, or simply “Something’s wrong”. Some have also reported experiencing an infinite loading screen, or even a “Temporarily Unavailable” error message on the home screen.
As mentioned earlier, this ongoing disruption are also affecting the use of Maybank’s physical cards, with many users complaining that they are unable to conduct payments with their debit/credit cards. Apart from that, attempting transfer funds through any of the bank’s services are reported to be inaccessible as well.
Maybank has yet to publicly announce the disruption, let alone state the cause. However, at the time of writing, it appears that the bank is in the midst of fixing the issue as both its Maybank2u website and MAE app now informs users of an ongoing maintenance. It is not known how long the process will take, though the notice promises that all services will be “back up shortly”.
[UPDATE – 7 August 2023 – 3:55pm]
Maybank has finally acknowledged the ongoing service disruption via its official accounts on X (formerly Twitter) and Facebook. The same post also saw the bank informing users that its Maybank2u website and MAE mobile services, as well as Debit/Credit card usage are currently temporarily unavailable. “We apologise for any inconvenience caused and we are working to resolve the matter as soon as possible,” it wrote in the notice.
