The Road Transport Department (JPJ) officially unveiled the MyJPJ app back in February. The app came about with the promise of letting users pay for their Malaysian Driving Licence (LMM) and road tax, or officially the Motor Vehicle Licence (LKM) online, as well as having to do without physical versions of such documents. The online payment part is not ready yet, and according to Transport Minister Anthony Loke, it may be a few months before it gets launched.
According to Bernama, Loke says that the online payment systems for both the LKM and LMM will be announced after the completion of the Proof of Concept implementation. Though the launch of this feature will only happen “in a few months”.
Without the online payment feature, the MyJPJ app still allows for the digital display of your LMM and LKM documents. At the time, Loke said that even screenshots or printed versions of these documents would be valid, and can be shown to enforcement officers. For those who prefer said documents in their original physical forms, that is still an option that remains.
Also mentioned in the report that the digital versions of these documents, as well as their screenshots and printouts, are only valid while in country. The report notes that drivers will still have to produce physical versions of these documents if they decide to drive to a neighbouring country that doesn’t recognise their digital counterparts.
