Last week, 9to5Mac reported that Apple staffers were told to not take the day off on 13 September, which hinted to that being the date for the reveal of the iPhone 15 line. The report also estimated that the phones will be available for purchase slightly over a week later, on 22 September. Now, Mark Gurman of Bloomberg has corroborated both claims in his weekly Power On newsletter.
According to the newsletter, Gurman cites sources that says that the iPhone 15 launch event will happen on either 12 or 13 September, which matches up with the reported Apple memo to employees. This is then followed by 22 September, which is when the report claims the phones will be going on sale. Not mentioned here is the date when pre-orders open, which 9to5Mac speculated to be on Friday of the same week, which is on 15 September.
Normally, these start of sale date for iPhones would mainly only apply to the US, with dates for the local market delegated to much later dates. But for the iPhone 14 family, barring the Plus model, they were all made available in Malaysia a week after sales in the US started. Actually, the same can be said for when the iPhone 13 was the latest in the fruit company’s production line.
Assuming this pattern is retained, local fans of the brand may be able to get their hands on their preferred variant of the iPhone 15 starting 29 September. That being said, these dates are never set in stone, and there’s still five weeks in between now and when the iPhone 15 line is scheduled to be unveiled. Things can easily change between now and then, especially when such dates have not even been revealed yet.
