The Ministry of Finance has stated that the e-Tunai initiative announced last week will be distributed in the fourth quarter of 2023. This means that the e-wallet credit will reach the accounts of recipients sometime between October and December of this year, although the ministry did not specify when exactly this will take place.
This time around, each qualifying Malaysian adult will be receiving an injection of RM100 in their e-wallet of choice. To be eligible for e-Tunai, you must be earning RM100,000 or less annually, which is roughly RM8,333 per month. According to the government, this will benefit more than 10 million people in the B40 and M40 income classes.

The finance ministry has not yet revealed which e-wallets will be picked to participate in this initiative. For last year’s EPemula distribution, users could choose between BigPay, GrabPay, ShopeePay, and Touch ‘n Go to receive their e-wallet credit. However, for the recent eBeliaRahmah disbursement, the youth were limited to only Boost, Setel, and TnG.
While the official e-wallets for e-Tunai are still up in the air, we can almost be certain that the credit will come with the same limitations that we’ve seen previously. This includes not being able to spend it on online purchases or transferring the credit to non-merchant users.
