Handheld PCs are on the rise, with the Steam Deck paving the way back in 2021. Since then, we’ve had a few iterations from Ayaneo, and arguably more prominently, the ASUS ROG Ally. Though it looks like there may be another competitor in the space, in the form of a Lenovo Legion Go.
Windows Central cites sources who claim that the handheld PC will come with Windows 11. It will also be equipped with AMD Ryzen 7040 series Phoenix mobile processors, originally meant for laptops, though which chip exactly remains unclear. The Lenovo Legion Go will also reportedly come with an eight-inch screen, making it slightly larger than both the Steam Deck and the ROG Ally.
Unfortunately, that’s as far as details go in the report. On the flip side though, the report also notes the possibility of the Lenovo Legion Go ending up not materialising at all. Such was the fate of the Legion Play, an Android-based handheld gaming device which was discovered in the code of the company’s Germany and Japan websites around the time of MWC 2021. But on the flip side, if it does happen, there’s a chance that the design for the Android-based device be carried over to this Windows 11-based one.
With that being the case, it would be premature to expect things like an official announcement date or even price for the Lenovo Legion Go. Hopefully its ultimate fate is a better one than the Legion Play.
