While Samsung was busy debuting its new foldable smartphones last night, three of its competitors took the opportunity to steal its thunder by teasing their own upcoming devices around the same time. Apart from OnePlus, other brands that also decided to jump in on the opportunity includes fellow Chinese tech giants OPPO and Xiaomi.
Just a couple of hours before Samsung opened its doors for its July Galaxy Unpacked event, OPPO dropped a teaser of a new Find N device on its social media channels, hinting of an announcement that’s coming in the near future. The short clip included in the posting featured the letter Z, presumably referring to the South Korean company’s branding for its foldable handsets, which then rotates and transforms into OPPO’s own N logo.
For the uninitiated, this particular branding is associated with the company’s Find N foldables, which so far consists of a phablet-styled smartphone as well as a clamshell-styled model. In the same teaser, the company merely wrote “Stay tuned” and did not provide an estimated time for the device’s reveal.

Next up is Xiaomi, which confirmed via Weibo that it will be announcing the successor to its foldable smartphone sometime next month. As expected, not much is known for now, though the brand did reveal that the upcoming device – officially confirmed as the Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 – will feature an “optical full-focus quad-cam setup” with enhancements from Leica.
According to rumours, the company’s upcoming foldable could come with an 8.02-inch OLED display when unfolded, along with a 6.5-inch OLED outer screen – both boasting 1080p resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. It is also said to feature 67W wired and 50W wireless charging, a Snapdragon 8 Gen2 chipset from Qualcomm, up to 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM, 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage, as well as two telephoto lenses as part of its alleged quad camera setup.
And just in case you missed our earlier report, OnePlus has somewhat confirmed that its first ever foldable smartphone will indeed be called the OnePlus Open – a name which was leaked by several tech insiders prior to this. Taking a jab at Samsung’s recently launched foldable flagship device, the company tweeted “We OPEN when others FOLD” just an hour before the Galaxy Unpacked event kicked off.
