GoKL, the free bus service run by Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) that covers several parts of the city, will soon be adding two new bus routes for the convenience of commuters. One of the routes will cover parts of the Bukit Jalil area while the other is still unknown.
This morning, I spotted several GoKL electric buses in front of the Muhibbah Community Complex and when I called the Kuala Lumpur Command & Control Centre (KLCCC) to enquire about it, they confirmed that DBKL is testing a new route for that area. It turns out that this was already announced on the GoKL app, stating that a new route dubbed “GoKL 14” will run from the Muhibbah Community Complex to PPR Pinggiran Bukit Jalil starting 1 August 2023.
Confusingly, the KLCCC rep told me that GoKL 14 will actually be launching at the end of August. There will apparently also be another new route called GoKL 15, but they did not divulge which area it will service.
On a related note, the app announcement added that from 1 August, GoKL will change the route names from colours to numbers. For example, the Green route will be known as GoKL 1, the Purple route will be called GoKL 2, and so on.
