Popular dronemaker DJI officially pulled back the curtain on its latest drone, the Air 3. As the latest addition to its portfolio and as it always goes with all new products, the drone comes packed with several new features and updates.
Firstly, the new drone is slightly heavier than its predecessor, the Air 2S. Specifically, it weighs in at 720g, versus the 2S’ 595g. “The DJI Air 3 is the first drone of our Air Series which offers professional features like dual primary cameras and omnidirectional obstacle sensing and at the same time retaining its lightweight capabilities with a weight of just 720g for more freedom and flexibility,” said Ferdinand Wolf, Creative Director at DJI. “The drone is the perfect all-rounder for your outdoor adventures and offers you a more diverse camera language.”
Its weight notwithstanding, the Air 3 is also the first drone model in the Air series to run a dual-primary camera system. the camera system basically comprises a 1/1.3-inch CMOS wide-angle camera and a 1/1.3-inch CMOS 3x medium telephoto camera, all encased within a compact module. This allows the users of the drone to either perform sweeping landscape video or still shots, or a zoomed-in shot with strong “spatial compression”.
To that end, the Air 3 is also able to perform 2.7K Vertical Shooting, allowing the users to provide more eye-catching vertical aerial shots, all of which can be shared directly on your preferred social network, immediately without any cropping.
Other features on the Air 3 includes FocusTrack, Quickshots, MasterShots, Hyperlapse, SlowMotion recording at 4K100fps, and Waypoint Flight, to name a few.
The DJI Air 3 is available starting today. The drone will retail with a starting SRP of RM4,799, but the dronemaker is also providing consumers with two Fly More Combo packages. The first package, codenamed RC-N2, retails at RM5,799, while the second package, RC 2, is the most expensive of the two at RM6,589.
