Starlink, the satellite internet service by SpaceX, has finally become available for purchase in Malaysia after first being teased over a year ago. The company received the Network Facility and Service Provider License last week, which was necessary for it to legally operate the service here.
Now it has started offering the subscription along with the hardware for it across the entirety of the country, covering both the Peninsular and East Malaysia. According to SpaceX, customers can expect to see download speeds of around 100Mbps.
The subscription for the service itself costs RM220 per month with no contract, however, the standard kit costs RM2,300. It consists of the Starlink dish, a base, a Wi-Fi router, as well as cables.
The standard kit should be enough for most people but for those who want to use the satellite service for business and enterprise applications, they might need to get the high performance kit which has a hefty price tag of RM11,613. This kit comes with a power supply and can apparently withstand high temperatures, connect to more satellites, and is more durable against extreme environments.
Regardless of which kit you purchase, the subscription price remains the same along with a RM100 shipping fee for either one. Starlink also has a 30-day return policy for the hardware where you can get a full refund if you are not satisfied.
