Sony recently posted a teaser image on its social media account. The image features a close-up or outline of what may or may not be its WF-1000XM5.
There isn’t much to go by with the teaser image, but it does have the words “The Best Silence Drops”, along with the date and time of the announcement. It states that the reveal will happen on 24 July at 9AM PT, which is midnight of 25 July for us.
For the silence. For the sound.

There is no additional information beyond the teaser, and the Sony rep we’ve been reaching out to has been tight-lipped about the product in question. However, given the similarities between the outline of the alleged audio product and those from the leaked renders of the WF-1000XM5, it may be safe to assume that the product in question could be a successor to the brand’s WF-1000XM4 earbuds.
News of the Sony WF-1000XM5 broke cover back in June of this year, with renders of the brand’s next-generation earbuds sporting a slightly modified design, as well as a cradle cum charging case that also seems to be more slim and compact that its predecessor.
The alleged specs sheet of the Sony WF-1000XM5 also suggests that the earbuds will carry support for Bluetooth 5., the HiRes Audio and DSEE Extreme support, as well as multi-point connections. The latter being a feature the current WF-1000X4 isn’t able to do.
In another report, it was alleged that the new Sony WF-1000XM5 earbuds may also retail at a higher price than the WF-1000XM4. Specifically, there was talk that Sony’s next-generation earbuds would have an SRP of 319.99 Euros (~RM1,629). That’s definitely more expensive than the 1000XM4, which currently has an SRP of RM1,099.
