Renders of the OnePlus 12 made their way online recently, which is pretty early considering that the current model showed up during the start of the year. While it is likely to keep its current schedule, one may be tempted to assume that it would show up during the second half of the year, a space that’s usually occupied by a T model. Though a recent claim by an industry leakster is that the phone will be making its first official appearance in its home market of China at the very end of this year.
The claim comes from a leakster who goes by Max Jambor on Twitter. As you might expect though, this is not the first to have made the claim. A few days earlier, a similar claim was made by fellow leakster Abhishek Yadav, alongside some spec sheet speculation. A similar claim was made all the way back in May by another leakster Yogesh Brar.
Of the two claims, there are some overlaps, like the 6.7-inch QHD 120Hz OLED screen, the as-of-yet unannounced Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, as well as a 50MP + 50MP + 64MP camera combo. Claims of battery capacity was also similar at 5,000mAh, but charging rates is where the two claims diverge.
Should the OnePlus 12 actually launch in its home market in December this year, it would be slightly ahead of the current schedule, which saw the OnePlus 11 debuting in China earlier this year. But considering the gap between the phone’s home market debut and international availability, it’s pretty likely that the OnePlus 12 will only be available elsewhere starting next year. But either way, it will be several months still before we find out for sure.
