Netflix released a Profile Transfer feature back in 2022 in preparation for its password-sharing crackdown. Now that the measures are in full swing, the company has updated the profile sharing feature to give you more options when you’re kicked out of an account.
Previously, if you were caught sharing an account where the primary holder lives outside of your household, you could either pay an extra member fee or transfer your profile to a brand new account where you would be the main account holder.
With the new update, Netflix is allowing you to transfer your profile to an existing account, whether it be your own old account or someone else’s, as long as they are a part of your current household. This will let you keep your personalised recommendations, viewing history, My List, saved games, and other settings.
To do this, just click on the “Transfer Profile” option that can be found in the dropdown menu of the profile icon on the homepage. You then choose which profile to transfer and provide the email and password if it’s to be moved to an existing account. Additionally, Netflix will keep a copy backup of your profile in the original account, although it won’t include saved games.
