Alongside its new nova 11 smartphone series that were launched yesterday, Huawei also debuted its Watch 4 Series for the Malaysian market. The new wearable is available in standard and Pro variants, offering users with the brand’s one-touch, multipoint health tracking features, which allows them to easily manage their health with just a quick glance.
Naturally, despite offering the same health and fitness monitoring capabilities as well as typical smartwatch functionalities, what sets each Huawei Watch 4 model apart from one another are their designs and the materials used for their respective cases. More specifically, the vanilla variant comes with black stainless steel with black fluoroelastomer straps, while the Pro features an aerospace=grade titanium case with dark brown leather straps.
In terms of display, the duo boast a 1.5-inch Low-Temperature Polycrystalline Oxide (LTPO) touchscreen which is protected by “3D curved glass” on the vanilla variant, whereas the Pro gets spherical sapphire glass protection. Apart from that, found on either model is a rotating crown on the upper right, while situated below it is a physical button. Huawei notes that both Watch 4 models support up to 30-metres in free dive resistance, 5ATM water resistance, and are rated at IP68.
Included on the Watch 4 series include ECG, SpO2, heart rate, sleep and respiratory monitoring, which can be synched to the Huawei Health mobile app for a detailed rundown. Other notable features found onboard include fall detection with Emergency SOS function, over 100 workout modes, over 100 built-in widgets, a wide variety of watch face designs and themes, a customisable Quick Bar that provides you quick access to most used tools, and a new Floating Task Ball function that allows you to minimise opened apps.
Additionally, the two also come with eSIM support which allows users to make phone-free calls, send and receive SMS messages, stream music, get real-time navigation and so on. Of course, you’ll also get Bluetooth connectivity, so you can still achieve all of these by connecting either watch models to your smartphone.
In terms of battery life, Huawei claims that the vanilla Watch 4 is capable of lasting up to 3 days under standard mode and up to 14 days with Ultra-long Battery Life mode activated. The Pro variant, on the other hand, is said to last up to 4.5 days and 21 days respectively. Both support wireless fast charging which enables for a full top-up within an hour.
The vanilla Huawei Watch 4 is available now at RM1,999 via the brand’s Experience Store nationwide, as well as its official online stores on Shopee and Lazada. Meanwhile, the Pro model is priced at RM2,499, but will only arrive in Malaysia next week on 15 July 2023.
