The Redmi 12 was made available in Thailand last month. At the time, there were signs that it wouldn’t be long before the phone would make an appearance on our shores. Now we have official confirmation from the brand itself, stating that the phone will be available next week.
And when it does, it will still be packing familiar innards too. Just like its Thai variants, the local Redmi 12 models will also be sporting a 6.79-inch Full HD+ screen, a MediaTek Helio G88 chipset and a 5000mAh battery that supports 18W charging via USB-C. The 3.5mm audio jack will also be making a return, and for the other connectivity options, the list Bluetooth 5.3 as well as NFC in addition to WiFi. There’s also the IR blaster, too. On the software side of things, the phone runs MIUI 14, which is based on Android 13.
For its cameras, the Redmi 12 will be packing a 50MP main + 8MP wide-angle + 2MP macro camera combo at the back. In front, the 16MP shooter sits within a punch hole cutout. All of this is packed inside a body that is rated IP53, which is a tad unusual as you’d normally associate IP ratings with phones of a higher price bracket.
Speaking of price bracket, the Redmi 12 will come in two RAM and storage configurations, which are 4GB + 128GB and 8GB + 256GB. These are priced at RM599 and RM699 respectively. Though despite the company announcing their prices now, the phone will only be available on 15 July onwards. Once it does become available though, you will be able to get it via authorised retailers, as well as the official Xiaomi store on Lazada and Shopee
