OPPO has just launched a 4G version of the A78 5G that was released earlier this year. With a RM100 price cut, it does get a downgraded processor but surprisingly, the brand upgraded the phone in other areas to make up for it.
The OPPO A78 sports a smaller 6.4-inch 90Hz display with the same peak brightness of 600 nits but it gets an AMOLED panel with a higher resolution of 1080p. Additionally, the fingerprint sensor has been moved from the side to under the display and it gets a more secure IP54 dust and water resistance rating.
Under the hood, it runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 chipset paired with a single configuration of 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage, along with a microSD card slot for up to 1TB of storage expansion. For connectivity, it is unclear if it has a 3.5mm audio jack like the A78 5G.
The camera setup of the OPPO A78 is similar to the 5G variant, with a 50MP primary camera alongside a depth sensor on the back while the front houses an 8MP selfie snapper. It maintains the 5,000mAh battery capacity but the charging capability has been improved to 67W.
The OPPO A78 retails for RM999 and can be purchased through the brand’s Shopee store. Those who buy the phone between 7 to 31 July will receive a free pair of wireless earbuds worth RM109.
