After unintentionally spilling the beans ahead of time and then officially reconfirming it with a later announcement, Samsung has now revealed that its second major Unpacked event of the year will take place on 26 July 2023. And to recap the previous notice, the launch will be held in Seoul, South Korea for the very first time, and also be streamed live for the global audience via all of the brand’s official social media channels.
As teased by the promotional image, the event will see the official unveiling of Samsung’s next generation compact foldable smartphone, Galaxy Z Flip5. This is to be expected, as rumours before this have already suggested regarding the product’s debut during the upcoming launch, along with several other devices which the brand has yet to confirm. The latter of which include this year’s iteration of the larger Galaxy Z Fold series, as well as new Galaxy Tab, Watch and Buds models.
Speaking of leaks, the most recent of which is a photo of an alleged Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5 that’s spotted in the wild. This particular image corroborates with unofficial 3D renderings of the device provided by tech insider OnLeaks, which initially suggests that it would feature a larger external display than its predecessor – allowing more screen estate for apps and widgets. Apart from that, it is believed that the new compact foldable smartphone will be equipped with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, 8GB RAM, up to 256GB storage, dual 12MP external cameras, and a 3,700mAh battery with 25W fast charging support.
Meanwhile, the larger Galaxy Z Fold5 is rumoured to feature an improved hinge which allows it to now fold completely flat – eliminating the gap that’s present on its predecessors. As for specs, unofficial sources suggest that the phone will also feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, 8GB RAM, up to 512GB storage, a 50MP primary camera, 12MP ultra-wide, a 3x 12MP telephoto, a 10MP external selfie shooter, a 4MP under-display camera, and a 4,400mAh battery.
As usual, we’ll only know whether or not all leaks concerning both devices are accurate or not once Samsung’s Unpacked event is held in another three weeks. Those interested can tune into the launch’s live stream via the brand’s official website, YouTube and Facebook pages at 7pm local time come 26 July 2023. In addition, Samsung says that you can also register your interest via this link to receive first-hand updates, as well as receive up to RM400 e-vouchers which you can use for pre-ordering the new Galaxy devices that are expected to debut by then.
