Those keeping track are well aware that Tesla is gearing up for a launch in Malaysia for quite some time now. Evidence of this has been gathered from listings of job vacancies for local staff, to the discovery of its tech in the SIRIM database. Now, the company has finally confirmed a date for its official local debut.
For those planning to mark their calendars, the date to look out for that Tesla has decided on is 20 July 2023, which falls on a Thursday in about two weeks from now. According to the invite that was sent to us, the launch will see the company share its “Masterplan” for Malaysia, as well as showcase how its mission and electric vehicles can help create a sustainable future.
As expected, the automaker did not disclose which of its electric vehicles (EVs) will be debuting in the country, though the teaser image provided does clearly show the front profile of its Tesla Model Y SUV. And should the local branch follow in the same footsteps as its Thailand and Singapore counterparts, then it’s very likely that Malaysia might be getting the 4-door sedan EV as well. Whether or not this will actually be the case, we will only find out when the local launch happens.
