Samsung has announced that its 49-inch Odyssey G9 (G95SC) is slated to arrive in Malaysia soon. The display is one of two new ultra-wide monitors that was announced during CES 2023 back in January, with the other model being the 57-inch Odyssey Neo G9 (G95NC) which features a larger quantum mini LED panel instead.
To recap, the 49-inch Samsung Odyssey OLED G9 comes with a slightly smaller 1800R ultra-wide curved display with quantum dot OLED technology. It has a resolution of 5120 x 1440 pixels, a 32:9 aspect ratio, 0.1 response time, 240 Hz refresh rate, HDR10+ and FreeSync Premium Pro support, and a typical brightness of 250 nits.
Additionally, the monitor is powered by the brand’s OLED & Neo Quantum Processor Pro, and is equipped with two 5W 2ch speakers with Adaptive Sound Pro, as well as a rear RGB lighting system. Besides that, its onboard I/O support includes a HDMI 2.1, a DisplayPort 1.4, a micro HDMI 2.1 and three USB-A ports, as well as Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.2 wireless connectivity.
Features-wise, Samsung says the OLED G9 comes with streaming app support through the pre-installed Smart Hub platform, which allows users to enjoy various content through numerous partners such as Amazon Prime Video, Netflix, Youtube, and so on. It is also equipped with Samsung Gaming Hub, an all-in-one game streaming platform that allows users to discover and play games directly via cloud services like Xbox and NVIDIA GeForce Now without needing a console or local installation, though it is unclear whether this particular feature is supported for the local release.
Pricing and expected date of arrival for the new ultra-wide monitor are still unconfirmed at this time. For your reference, the 49-inch Odyssey OLED G9 launched in the US for US$2,200 (~RM10,280). For its upcoming Malaysia release, Samsung noted that those who pre-register their interest between 26 June to 9 July 2023 via its official website are also entitled to receive a RM300 e-voucher and savings up to RM2,000 upon early order for the new monitor.
