As announced last week, youths and university students can start claiming the eBeliaRahmah e-wallet credit starting from today. The initiative provides those eligible with RM200 as well as extra perks provided by the respective e-wallet operator that they have chosen.
Just like with previous e-wallet disbursements, the programme is mostly aimed at supporting physical retail stores and small businesses. As such, the credit can only be used for offline purchases.
How To Claim
To claim the credit, you first need to choose between the three e-wallets eligible for it this time around, which are Boost, Setel, and TnG eWallet. Whichever app you choose, you must make sure to verify yourself through the electronic Know-Your-Customer (eKYC) procedure if you haven’t already, which requires you to validate your IC.
Once you’ve applied for eBeliaRahmah, it will take up to three days for you to be approved or rejected for the RM200 credit. Eligible users can only claim the credit once through only one e-wallet provider.
The period to register for the programme is from today until 22 August 2023. Additionally, the credit itself can only be spent until 31 August 2023, so you will need to finish it within a little over a month.
What You Can’t Do
As previously mentioned, the iniative is focused on supporting retailers, meaning that the spending of the credit is strictly limited to offline purchases such as stores, stalls, and any other retailer that allows you to pay using DuitNow QR.
The things you’re not allowed to do with the eBeliaRahmah credit include:
- Peer-to-peer transfers
- Cash redemption
- Utility bill payments
- Government fee payments
- Postpaid and prepaid telco payments
- Video game purchases
- Parking and/or toll
- Investment activities
- E-commerce
As a reminder, those who are eligible for eBeliaRahmah are Malaysian youths aged between 18 to 20 as well as anyone who is registered as a full-time tertiary student as of 30 April 2023. When choosing an e-wallet, check out all the extra perks of each provider before making a decision in order to get the best deals out of this initiative.
