Last week, Samsung Australia jumped the gun and revealed that the company’s next Unpacked event, likely featuring the foldables, will be happening late next month. The post was removed not too long after it was posted which, as much as it was a sign that it was revealed too early, also implied that the details were accurate. Today, Samsung has announced again that the next Unpacked event is indeed happening late next month.
In a press release, Samsung reiterates that the Unpacked event taking place in late July 2023 will be happening at the COEX Convention and Exhibition Centre, in Samseong-dong, Gangnam. As before, included in the press release is a quote mentioning the foldables category of devices, implying that those are what will be unveiled when the event actually happens.
And on that note, even before the official notice was prematurely posted, South Korean news outlet Chosun Ilbo has already cited sources that claimed that the next Samsung Unpacked event would take place on 26 July. It’s a bit frustrating to see the company still being vague, choosing to not announce the exact date and leaving it with the vague end-of-the-month window.
As for the devices themselves, there have already been a fair number of leaks on the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5 and Z Flip5. The most recent one for the former indicated that it will be able to achieve what many foldables that came before could not – fold completely flat. The latter, on the other hand, has had plenty of leaks regarding the secondary display, which suggest that they can not only run widgets, but will also have apps optimised for them as well. With there being slightly under a month-and-a-half to go, we’ll find out for sure then if these leaks regarding the upcoming foldable devices were accurate.
