Some of you may already know that, during Computex 2023, MSI made the grand announcement that it was partnering up with the German automotive maker, Mercedes, but more specifically, the carmaker’s racing team, Mercedes-AMG. To celebrate, the offspring of the two brands is a special edition Stealth 16 laptop that bears all of the latter’s signs and colours.
There are some very obvious differences between this Mercedes-AMG Stealth 16 and MSI’s usual model. It is still a gaming laptop at its core and even has all the trappings of one. Beneath the hood, it’s fitted with a 13th Gen Intel Core i9-13900H mobile CPU, an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 discrete GPU. That’s a CPU with 14-cores and 20-threads that turbo up to 5.4GHz. The RTX 40 Series Mobile GPU is the highest tier GPU that MSI is shipping out with this laptop, though MSI didn’t quite specify which model of RTX 4070 mobile this is.
Then there is the gorgeous OLED 4K+ 16-inch display on the Mercedes-AMG Stealth 16. It feels massive with a resolution 3840 x 2400, and that extra screen real estate comes from its 16:10 aspect ratio. Additionally, it also has a DCI-P3 rating of 100%. The one and only downside to the panel is its refresh rate: unlike most gaming monitors that offer 120Hz and beyond, this laptop’s display is locked in at a maximum of 60Hz.
There is also an adequate number of USB-C ports on both sides of the Mercedes-AMG Stealth 16, plus a dedicated LAN port and microSD card slot. On that note, the laptop is powered by its own proprietary power port, which looks similar to the ones that you’ll find with MSI’s GP and GT series gaming laptops. For that matter, the connector is still thinner and smaller than its counterparts, but is still able to deliver up to 240W of power directly to the laptop.
At the time of writing, there is still no official pricing for the Mercedes-AMG Stealth 16, but it is expected to be available sometime during the second half of this year.
